Wu Lyf - 9 Songs

Vorige week al iets over het mysterieuze Cults, deze week een schepje er bovenop met Wu Lyf. De naam is een afkorting van World Unite/Lucifer Youth Foundation, en de band komt uit Manchester. Dat is het wel zo'n beetje. Van de Myspace en het blog (wel met supermooi artwork overigens) word je ook niet veel wijzer. Vergelijkingen zijn lastig te maken, maar het doet misschien een beetje denken aan Fever Ray en The xx, alhoewel een stuk minder koelbloedig en soms gemixt met hiphop.



Van de Myspace: "wu lyf is nothing; 4 dumb kids, looking for a place to call home, i dont feel at home in this place, yu know, cash rules everything around me, yall getting screen glare tans and forgetting about the soil outside, the dirt, were heading for a place to play heavy, where yr mother holds you with the love of the world. for the young, 4 kids, and those whom are older but still have the courage to look at the world as if they were children." Al eerder waren ze Band of the Day bij Gaurdian, maar die wisten er ook niet veel meer van te maken.

De enige release van de band tot nu toe (in een editie van 14) is Weak Weak Lil Girl Demos, inmiddels uitverkocht:



Alles wat qua muziek te vinden is op internet (9 nummers) heb ik hier samengebracht in 1 download via Zshare. Mijn favoriet is 'Heavy Pop', elke keer kippenvel. Geen idee hoe lang hij erop blijft staan, dus snel even binnenhalen.
