New Forest Family release: Dent May

Although Forest Family's third release (a 7" by Sleep ∞ Over) has yet to get a pre-order, the label announced that its fourth release will be a 7" by Dent May. I hadn't heard of him before, but this home recording crooner does have a nice swing to him. Keep your eyes peeled for the August release, and in the meantime, listen to the a-side That Feeling below:

How To Dress Well: Ready For the World (Twin Sister Remix)

Last week, the a-side to How To Dress Well's new 7" was featured on this blog, and now you can also listen to the b-side, a remix by Twin Sister. Pre-order a copy of the 7" at Lefse Records.

And it looks like How To Dress Well has another 7" coming up pretty soon on Transparent, which is great news:

Good news just came our way through How to Dress Well: his first 7" is to be released by Lefse Records on July 20. And it looks like HTDW is coming up with more big news pretty soon. Watch a teaser for the single below (shot by Yours Truly) and listen/download the song:

Sleep ∞ Over - Your World Is Night

Seriously beautiful. Here's an unofficial (I think?) video for Sleep ∞ Over's Your World Is Night by Josh Morgan. He sure knows how to capture the right atmosphere. Really is best thing I've seen for quite some time:

Also, Forest Family Records' third release will be a 7" by Sleep ∞ Over. Listen/download the title track right here:

Cloud Nothings' hits

This boy just keeps producing lo-fi hit after lo-fi hit. Even If It Worked Out is the b-side from his new 7" on Old Flame Records. Again, it's catchy as hell.

New Transparent release: Weekend / Young Prisms

The latest release by recordlabel/bloggers Transparent is a split 7" by Weekend and Young Prisms. Weekend released a 10" on Mexican Summer earlier (also known from releases by Washed Out and Pearl Harbour). I really liked their song All-American, sounding somewhere near My Bloody Valentine and Japandroids, only with added vacuum cleaner. That's right: even more vacuum cleaner, but still creating great melodies. Their song from the Transparent 7", End Times, can be considered just as genius. This time they sound a bit more New Wave, thanks to the added edgy bassline. Unbelievably, they manage to create a larger-than-life chorus within their shoegaze-sound, going straight through the heart.

Young Prisms' side of the 7" is just as great as their San Francisco friends. Leaning heavily on layers of vocals and guitars with loads of reverb, their song I Don't Get Much sounds dreamy from start to finish.

You can download both songs from Transparent's nice blog. But really, you should buy a copy for 5 bucks from Pure Groove.
